Cookies
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon almond extract
- 1 unit egg
- 2 tablespoon milk
Icing
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 teaspoon milk
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoon light corn syrup
- unit assorted food coloring optional
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a small bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and almond extracts. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Add milk to help the dough come together.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thick. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let cool on wire racks.
For the icing: In a small bowl, stir together powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Beat in corn syrup and vanilla extract until icing is smooth and glossy. If icing is too thick, add more corn syrup. Divide into separate bowls and add food colorings to each as desired.
Decorate cooled cookies with icing.
