Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 4 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup hazelnut spread (like Nutella)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four 6-ounce ramekins and place them on a baking sheet.
  2. Melt the butter and chocolate together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until thick and pale.
  4. Fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture.
  5. Sift the flour and salt over the mixture and gently fold until combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the ramekins. Spoon a tablespoon of hazelnut spread into the center of each ramekin and gently press it down.
  7. Bake for 12 minutes, until the edges are set but the center is still soft.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the ramekins for 1 minute, then run a knife around the edges to loosen and invert onto plates.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve immediately.
