Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ziti pasta
  • 1 jar marinara sauce
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook ziti pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large pot, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until onion is translucent.
  4. Add marinara sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper to the pot. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl, combine cooked ziti pasta, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  6. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish. Layer half of the ziti mixture on top. Add another layer of meat sauce, followed by the remaining ziti mixture. Top with the remaining meat sauce and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
