Ingredients 

Cupcakes

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk

Frosting

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  4. Add flour mixture and milk alternately to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour.
  5. Divide batter evenly among liners. Bake for 18-20 minutes. Cool completely.
  6. For frosting, beat butter and cocoa powder until combined. Add powdered sugar and milk alternately, then vanilla. Beat until fluffy.
  7. Frost cooled cupcakes.
