Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Butter cold, cubed
  • ½ cup Ice water
  • 1 cup Fruit filling apple, cherry, or your choice
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar for sprinkling
  • 1 unit Egg beaten, for egg wash

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add ice water gradually, mixing until dough forms.
  4. Roll out dough on a floured surface and cut into squares.
  5. Place a spoonful of fruit filling in the center of each square.
  6. Fold squares into triangles and seal edges with a fork.
  7. Brush turnovers with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
