Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon red chili flakes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

Instructions 

  1. Combine water, rice vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and red chili flakes in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened, about 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool before serving.
