Ingredients

  • 500 g Beef steak, diced
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Ale
  • 2 cups Beef stock
  • 2 tablespoon Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme
  • 1 sheet Puff pastry
  • 1 Egg, beaten for egg wash

Instructions 

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. 2. In a large saucepan, brown the beef over medium heat. Remove and set aside.
  3. 3. In the same pan, sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
  4. 4. Return the beef to the pan, sprinkle with flour, and stir well.
  5. 5. Add the ale, beef stock, and thyme. Simmer for 1 hour until the beef is tender.
  6. 6. Transfer the beef mixture to a pie dish. Cover with puff pastry, trim the edges, and brush with beaten egg.
  7. 7. Bake for 30 minutes or until the pastry is golden and crisp.
