Ingredients 

Bolognese Sauce

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 carrot diced
  • 1 celery stalk diced
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (400g)
  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • to taste salt and pepper

Spaghetti

  • 400 g spaghetti
  • to taste Parmesan cheese grated, for serving

Instructions 

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery, and cook until softened.
  2. Add the ground beef to the pot and cook until browned.
  3. Pour in the red wine and let it simmer until it has mostly evaporated.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, and beef broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  7. Serve the Bolognese sauce over the cooked spaghetti and garnish with grated Parmesan cheese.
