Southern Grits Casserole

Main Ingredients
- 2 cups grits quick-cooking
- 4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter melted
- 2 eggs beaten
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add salt and grits, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in cheese, milk, and butter until well combined.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs and black pepper. Gradually add to the grits mixture, stirring constantly.
Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until set and golden on top.
Let cool slightly before serving.
