Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage casings removed
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 2 celery stalks chopped
  • 2 apples peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme chopped
  • 8 cups bread cubes day-old
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 egg beaten
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onion and celery until softened. Add apples and cook for a few more minutes.
  4. Mix in sage, rosemary, and thyme. Remove from heat.
  5. In a large bowl, combine bread cubes, sausage, and apple mixture. Add chicken broth and beaten egg. Mix well.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Transfer to a baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, until top is golden brown.
