- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves and turns a deep amber color.
Remove from heat and carefully add heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until smooth.
Let caramel cool to room temperature.
In a mixing bowl, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until smooth.
Add cooled caramel and beat until well combined.
