  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions 

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves and turns a deep amber color.
  2. Remove from heat and carefully add heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until smooth.
  3. Let caramel cool to room temperature.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until smooth.
  5. Add cooled caramel and beat until well combined.
