  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup poppy seeds
  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed
  • cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and poppy seeds.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently until it comes together.
  6. Pat the dough into a circle about 1-inch thick and cut into 8 wedges.
  7. Place the wedges on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
