Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup crushed peppermint candies
  • 1 cup additional powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and ½ cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the vanilla and peppermint extracts.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  5. Stir in the crushed peppermint candies.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until set but not browned.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes, then roll in additional powdered sugar while still warm.
  9. Let cookies cool completely, then roll in powdered sugar again.
