  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 pears, peeled and diced

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake tin.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, ground ginger, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the vegetable oil and milk. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the diced pears.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin. Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Let the cake cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
