Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.75 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup orange juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9 inch pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs, one at a time.
  3. Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  4. Stir in the milk, orange juice, and orange zest until batter is smooth. Fold in walnuts.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  7. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
