Ingredients 

Scones

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest

Orange Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoon orange juice

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together heavy cream, egg, vanilla extract, and orange zest.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently. Pat into a circle about 1-inch thick. Cut into 8 wedges and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack.
  8. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and orange juice until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled scones.
