Main Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 3 cups milk
- 3 egg yolks beaten
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pie crust baked
In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, and salt.
Gradually add milk, whisking constantly until smooth.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and boils.
Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
Stir a small amount of hot mixture into beaten egg yolks, then return to hot mixture in saucepan. Boil and stir for 1 minute.
Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
Pour into baked pie crust. Cool completely before serving.
