Ingredients 

Crumb Topping

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

Cake

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. Make the crumb topping: In a medium bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in the melted butter until well combined. Add the flour and mix until large crumbs form. Set aside.
  3. Make the cake: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the sour cream and vanilla extract. Gradually add the flour mixture and mix until just combined.
  4. Spread the cake batter evenly in the prepared pan. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the batter.
  5. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool in the pan on a wire rack before serving.
