- 4 large egg whites
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C).
In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.
Add cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form.
Fold in vanilla extract.
Pipe or spoon meringue onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 1 hour, then turn off the oven and let meringues cool inside the oven.
