Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C).
  2. In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.
  3. Add cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form.
  5. Fold in vanilla extract.
  6. Pipe or spoon meringue onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 1 hour, then turn off the oven and let meringues cool inside the oven.
