Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • ¼ cup Cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 3 Egg yolks beaten
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon zest grated
  • cup Lemon juice freshly squeezed

Instructions 

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually stir in milk until smooth.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
  3. Gradually stir half of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks, then return to the saucepan. Cook for 2 more minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in butter, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Pour into dessert dishes and chill before serving.
