Donut Ingredients
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.75 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoon lemon zest
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, poppy seeds, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about ¾ full.
Bake for 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.
Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
