Irish Wheaten Bread
This is a traditional Irish bread made with whole wheat flour, perfect for breakfast or as a side with soups and stews.

- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1.5 cups buttermilk
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Stir until a dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly. Shape into a round loaf.
Place the loaf on a baking sheet and cut a deep cross on top.
Bake for 40 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
