Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rice Preferably parboiled
  • ½ cup Urad Dal (Black Gram Lentils)
  • ½ teaspoon Fenugreek Seeds
  • to taste Salt
  • as needed Water
  • as needed Oil For cooking

Instructions 

  1. 1. Rinse the rice and urad dal separately until the water runs clear.
  2. 2. Soak the rice and urad dal (with fenugreek seeds) separately in enough water for at least 4 hours.
  3. 3. Drain the soaked rice and dal. Grind them separately to a smooth batter, adding water as needed.
  4. 4. Mix both batters together in a large bowl. Add salt and mix well.
  5. 5. Cover the bowl and let the batter ferment in a warm place for 8-12 hours.
  6. 6. Heat a griddle or non-stick pan over medium heat. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the center and spread it out in a circular motion to form a thin pancake.
  7. 7. Drizzle a little oil around the edges. Cook until the dosa is golden brown and crisp. Fold and serve hot.
