  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in the boiling water (batter will be thin).
  4. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
