Brownie Batter
- ½ cup unsalted butter melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Cream Cheese Swirl
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla extract, and whisk until smooth.
Stir in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until just combined. Do not overmix.
In another bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the batter. Pour the remaining brownie batter on top. Use a knife to swirl the cream cheese mixture through the brownie batter.
Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool before cutting into squares.
