Ingredients 

Cake

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
