Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • ½ cup ice water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 egg beaten, for egg wash
  • 2 tablespoon sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and cold butter. Use a fork or pastry cutter to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add the ice water, mixing until the dough comes together. Divide the dough into two discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ⅛ inch thick. Cut into 4-inch circles.
  5. Place a tablespoon of chocolate chips in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges with a fork to seal.
  6. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
  7. Place the hand pies on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
