Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy. Add the vanilla and eggs, beating well.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture, mixing until combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
Press half of the cookie dough into the prepared pan to form the crust.
In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Spread the cheesecake mixture over the cookie dough crust in the pan.
Drop small spoonfuls of the remaining cookie dough over the cheesecake layer.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is set and the edges are lightly browned. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into bars.
