- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup butter softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cherry pie filling
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the sour cream and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; stir into the batter just until blended.
Spread half of the batter in the prepared pan. Spread the cherry pie filling over the batter. Drop the remaining batter by spoonfuls over the cherry layer.
Bake for 45 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack.
