  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup dried cherries chopped
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds optional

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the almond extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped dried cherries and sliced almonds (if using).
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Flatten each ball slightly with your hand.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
