Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 clove Garlic halved
  • 1 cup Dry white wine
  • 8 oz Gruyère cheese shredded
  • 8 oz Emmental cheese shredded
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Kirsch optional
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg grated
  • 1 pinch White pepper ground

Instructions 

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the halved garlic clove, then discard the garlic.
  2. Pour the wine into the pot and heat over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
  3. Gradually add the shredded cheeses, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the lemon juice to form a smooth paste, then stir into the cheese mixture.
  5. Add the kirsch, nutmeg, and white pepper, and continue to cook, stirring, until thickened and smooth.
  6. Serve immediately with bread cubes, vegetables, or other dippers of your choice.
