Ingredients 

Cupcake Batter

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
