  • ¾ cup buttermilk cold

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually add the buttermilk, stirring just until the dough comes together.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently a few times.
  6. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick round. Cut out biscuits using a floured biscuit cutter or a glass.
  7. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
