Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 24 soft caramel candies unwrapped

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, beat together sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Scoop out dough and flatten slightly. Place a caramel candy in the center and wrap the dough around it, rolling into a ball.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar for the coating. Roll each dough ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  7. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
