Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup apple, peeled and diced
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup caramel sauce for drizzling

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the diced apple.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Pour into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently. Pat into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut into 8 wedges and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly.
  8. Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
