Ingredients

  • 2 cups blueberries fresh or frozen
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch optional, for thickening
  • 1 tablespoon water if using cornstarch

Instructions 

  1. In a saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries release their juices and the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. If using, mix cornstarch with water and add to the saucepan. Stir well.
  4. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.
