Ingredients 

Meringue

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

Topping

  • 1 cup heavy cream cold
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups mixed fresh berries

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat egg whites with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form. Beat in vanilla, vinegar, and cornstarch.
  4. Spread the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet in a 9-inch circle, making the edges slightly higher than the center.
  5. Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Turn off the oven and let the meringue cool completely in the oven.
  6. In a medium bowl, beat the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  7. Spread the whipped cream over the cooled meringue and top with fresh berries.
