Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Milk preferably whole milk
  • 1 pinch Salt to taste
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg optional

Instructions 

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes, until it forms a smooth paste and turns a light golden color.
  3. Gradually add the milk, continuing to whisk to prevent lumps. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens.
  4. Season with salt and nutmeg to taste. Serve warm.
