Kolaches
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- ½ cup warm milk
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 2 eggs room temperature
- 1 cup apricot preserves
In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
Add melted butter, sugar, eggs, and flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place on a baking sheet.
Make an indentation in the center of each dough ball and fill with apricot preserves. Let rise for another 20 minutes.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before serving.
