Ingredients 

Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups peeled, cored, and chopped apples

Crumb Topping

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add softened butter and mix until crumbly.
  3. In another bowl, whisk eggs, vanilla extract, and milk. Add to the flour mixture and stir until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  5. For the crumb topping, mix brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add melted butter and stir until crumbly. Sprinkle over the batter.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool before serving.
