American Flag Pie Recipe
A festive pie to celebrate Independence Day with a delicious berry filling and a patriotic design.

Crust
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
- ¼ cup ice water
Filling
- 2 cups blueberries
- 2 cups strawberries hulled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 egg wash 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a bowl, mix flour and butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water until dough forms. Divide dough in half, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.
Roll out one dough half and fit into a pie dish. Roll out the other half and cut into strips for the flag design. Chill both while preparing the filling.
In a large bowl, combine blueberries, strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and zest. Pour into the pie crust.
Arrange dough strips on top to create a flag design. Brush with egg wash.
Bake for 45 minutes or until crust is golden and filling is bubbly. Cool before serving.
